2. Community Wellness Activities

Review the Kaltag Wellness community activities, referenced in the course or click here.   

  • On the discussion board post activities your community hosts that are different from the ones Kaltag sponsored.

  • In your eJournal respond to the following questions:
    1. Are any of these activities going on in your community? If so, are you involved? In which ones?
    2. Do you think it’s a good idea for health providers to offer community activities like these? Why or why not?

3.  Select one of the following activities below. During class we will discuss what it was like to write this plan or letter. 

a) Write a plan for a community celebration or event. 
This plan does not mean you have to do the actual activity. Write down the steps necessary to make that activity happen. Share the plan with your learning partner or on the discussion board.

b)  Write a plan for developing “tea partners” in your community or region.
This plan does not mean you have to do the actual activity. Write down the steps necessary to make that activity happen. Share the plan with your learning partner or on the discussion board.

c. Write a letter to your Village Council.
Write a letter to your Village Council (you might not actually send the letter, that’s ok!) Describe what you would like from them in the way of support and how it will help you do your job better. Share this letter with your learning partner and decide what you would like to share during class.
