Course Orientation

Healthy Healers Plan *

Part of being a Healthy Healer is developing new habits and ways of managing stress and challenging situations. Healthy habits take time to develop and maintain. As part of the course, you will design your personal Healthy Healer Plan to provide focus and guidance for your continued wellness after the course is finished. Your Plan will be divided into three sections:

  • Personal Care Plan

  • Workplace Plan                       HH Plan

  • Community Plan

Think of these sections, as chapters in your overall Wellness Plan. You can develop and design this Plan in a way that makes the most sense to you. You will start this week and continue to add to your Plan every week.   Consider the following tips while developing your Plan:

  • Keep it simple and usable

  • Think about how your Plans provide the support you need to be a Healthy Healer

  • Use your resources to build the Plan: local elders, friends, colleagues and the Internet

 

Throughout the course we will have activities and assignments you might want to include as part of your personalized Plan. (You will choose at least one activity from each module.)   For instance, if we are working on mindfulness and this is a challenge for you, than you might want to choose mindfulness for your Plan.  Or you may have an interest in practicing more positive self talk, or eating more traditional nutritious foods, that could be part of your Plan. The three sections of your final Plan will be turned into the facilitator and presented to the class in week 8.



Getting Support

One of the goals for the Healthy Healer course is knowing and using your support network. Click the link below to download the "Getting Support" form. This exercise is the first step in identifying and nurturing your support network.

Getting Support 

1.  To begin, create a folder on your computer called: Healthy Healer Plan.  During the course you will add activities, assignments, quotes, tips anything you like that contributes to your health and wellness.

2.  Click on the link to access the worksheet.  Review the list of help situations, if you would like to add other situations, you may include those as well.    Here is the link to "Getting Support"

3.  Fill out the form, save it and include it in your Plan folder. "Getting Support' is one of the first documents you will include in your Healthy Healer Plan.

4.  After you save it to your own folder, Click here to submit this assignment or click on the button.

We start with this activity, so you are reminded, who you can depend on for different situations. During the synchronous class we will discuss, the concept of a "Support Network
