There are a number of methods of baking that emphasize wellness in baked goods.

For the adaptation example that you have been given for the Apple-date cake, identify three changes that have been made that are part of the list below. Give your reasons.

Possible Adaptations:


1. Fats are an important part of baking. Careful choices (like canola or olive oil) can help avoid trans fats.  

2. Whole grains and fibre ( seeds, apple skins etc) are a much healthier option than all white flour in baking.

3. Moderate use of sugar in a baked product is healthier and reduces calories.

4. Nuts can add nutrients like healthy fats (Omega 3) to baked goods.
