For many professional occupations, individuals work to become certified or licensed in their field of work. Certification and licensure show evidence that a person has certain knowledge, skills, and abilities (i.e., competence) to be successful in their positions, including providing quality and ethical care to clients and patients. Typically, licenses and certifications are granted for a certain amount of time and require additional training to keep your certification active. This assures that you are dedicated to maintaining quality client care and that you are up to date on the most current information and practices related to your field of work.

In this Module, you will learn about the Behavioral Health Aide Certification process. In order to become certified as a BHA, it is important for you to be familiar with the different requirements for certification. We will explore the benefits of BHA certification, walk you through the various requirements for becoming certified, and guide you through the process of compiling and submitting your application for review by the CHAPCB.

It is A LOT of information, so our goal here is to introduce you to different aspects of certification while also letting you know that you can access this information on the CHAPCB website at any time. You do not need to memorize all of this information, but we encourage you to take your time and think about how the information applies to you and your work.
